Every day brings our Team Canada athletes one step closer to their Olympic dreams — and Homewood Health is with them every step of the way. Homewood Health provides confidential, 24/7 mental health support for athletes, staff, and families.
Homewood Health and the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) have launched a four-year partnership to provide mental health support to Team Canada athletes, COC employees, and their families.
Through this partnership, Homewood Health becomes the Official Mental Health Services Provider of the Canadian Olympic Team, offering confidential access to a comprehensive range of supports through Game Plan—Canada’s holistic athlete-support network.
This partnership brings together two organizations dedicated to athlete-centered care, performance, and well-being—both in sport and in life.

Mikaël Kingsbury, known as “The King of Moguls,” is the most decorated moguls skier in history—a Canadian icon whose name has become synonymous with dominance on the slopes. With three Olympic medals and 100 World Cup victories, his legacy is unmatched. Yet behind the precision and pressure of always being “the one to beat,” Mikaël has faced the mental strain that comes with sustaining excellence at the highest level. By opening up about the weight of expectations, his comeback from a broken back in 2020, and the grounding role of family, teammates, and joy in sport, he shows us that true greatness isn’t just measured in medals—it’s about caring for the mind as much as the body, every step of the way.
Isabelle Weidemann, known as Izzy to those close to her, is one of Canada’s most accomplished long track speed skaters, celebrated for her Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Games. Standing tall at over six feet, she’s known for her powerful stride and remarkable endurance—but her success hasn’t come without challenge. Off the ice, Isabelle is becoming more open about her struggles with anxiety, sharing how it shaped her journey and why she feels it’s important to talk about more often. By speaking candidly about mental health, she not only shows the strength behind her medals but also inspires others to see that resilience is about more than performance—it’s about facing what’s hardest with honesty and courage.

Last fall, Erin Ambrose met with Homewood Health’s Dr. Ben McCutchen to speak candidly about the pressure of trying to make the women’s hockey team, especially after missing out on the previous Olympics. That honesty and other strategies helped her stay composed when the stakes were at their highest, and served her well when it ultimately mattered.
Silencing your inner critic is not easy, especially when you’re in the public eye. In this discussion between ice skater Piper Gilles and Homewood Health’s Dr. Ben McCutchen, Piper explains how she digs deep and stays focused in those crucial moments.

Mikaël’s story reminds us that high performance, in sport or in life, is not only physical—it is profoundly mental. The same principles that guide his success on the slopes are directly applicable to everyday challenges:
These lessons belong not just to athletes, but to all of us. Mental health pressures are part of being human, and so too is the capacity to manage them with support, strategy, and resilience.

Isabelle’s journey has resulted in practical strategies to manage anxiety and panic. They include:
Perhaps the most powerful reminder she offers is also the simplest: you are not alone. Many more people struggle with anxiety, panic, or doubt than appearances suggest. By opening conversations and checking in on one another, we create the conditions for resilience not only in high-performance sport, but in every aspect of life.
If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that support is available. Reach out, check in on a friend, or take the first step toward care.

While we’re proud to serve Team Canada, our care extends far beyond the Olympic stage. Whether you’re facing stress, burnout, anxiety, addiction, or a life transition — we can help.
